Copy of Motion to Quash Arrest Warrant

Mary Lacy is about 15 minutes away from a news conference in which she undoubtabley be skewered by the press. In the meantime here is a copy of the Motion to Quash Arrest Warrant

Monday, August 28, 2006

Released? Well not quite.

Contrary to what I reported in my previous post, John Mark Karr is not a free man. The reason is he is working on his frequent flyer miles between Colorado and California. There is that little pesky matter of the child porn charges in California from which he ran and skipped bond. So now, the shoe is on the other foot with Cali waiting for him to be released into their custody. Freaky deaky.

Charges Dropped!

Well, I can't say that I didn't expect this but not this soon. John Mark Karr was released from jail today at 3:04 PM when Mary Lacy's office decided not to press charges and the case against him has been dropped. I mean holy shit, how much more screwed up can this case be? The reason he was released is that his DNA didn't match the blood spatter found in JonBenet's underwear.

The fact that they dropped the charges, in my estimation makes Mary Lacy's office look like a bunch of bumbling fools that can't figure anything out. The next press release from her office might as well be it was Professor Plumb in the study with the candlestick. So let's see what we have here. An absolute media feeding frenzy, a lightning fast rush to judegement with no facts, a free trip to the U.S. complete with prawns and champagne, all at the Colorado taxpayers' expense. Seems like political suicide to me.

Ms. Lacy tried defending her actions by making the following statement.

"As I said last week, our role in the investigation of JonBenet Ramsey's murder has been to follow up on all legitimate leads that we have received from law enforcement and concerned citizens," her statement read. "This case is not closed, and we will continue to investigate leads and pursue justice."

Translation: I fucked up and now I am in heavy duty spin mode. Too late, Ms. Lacy. Perhaps you should drag that garrote out of the evidence locker and wrap it firmly around your political career.

Seth Temin, the public defender who represented Mr. Karr had the following no so flattering comments to make.

"We're deeply distressed by the fact that they took this man and dragged him here from Bangkok, Thailand, with no forensic evidence confirming the allegations against him and no independent factors leading to a presumption that he did anything wrong," Temin said.

Both the Boulder Sherriff's department and the Boulder District Attorney's office have news conferences scheduled. As soon as the information from those respective news conferences are available, you'll see it here.

What's Up Next?

Well the war of the attorneys seems to be over and the Boulder PD's office has come out the "winner". Ms. Harmon will have to get her 15 minutes elsewhere.

Today's hearing at 4:30 PM MST is going to be what is called an "Advisory Hearing" at which John Mark Karr will be advised of his rights. The judge will then set another hearing date, possibly as early as Thursday at which time the Boulder DA Mary Lacy could or could not charge Karr in the crimes. Confused? Me too.

The Apple And The Tree

Well, I'm kinda bushed after doing that last post but I wanted to get this out there as well. So I'm going to give my opinion on this matter and then give links to two stories.

It seems puzzling to me that a family who, until last week, thought that John Mark Karr was dead is now so involved in getting their 15 minutes. Not only didn't they know if he ws dead or alive, they made no effort to confirm either scenario.

They claim to have his best interests at heart and that of his sons but as these two articles show, they seem as full of shit as John Mark Karr himself. You read them and be the judge. I'm off to have a few beers. Cheers!

When photos, memories are a little hazy by Hank Stuever, The Washington Post

If you ask me, their appearance on Good Morning America made them seem like real goobers. So I guess the apple doesn't really far from the tree after all.

Who's The Boss?

I suppose that it was inevitable that it would come to this. I saw it happenig in California with Ms. Harmon and Ms. Van Zandt. Now all the rats are fighting over the Karr piece of cheese. Harmon and Van Zandt got their hooks into him in California and they alledgedly have a contract to represent him in Colorado. Only problem is Harmon and Van Zandt need an "in" in Colorado. They need to have an attorney "sponsor" them in Colorado for this one case so that legally, their status as attorneys will be recognized in Colorado. Enter Rachel Cohen, a 29 year old Lafayette, Colorado woman who has only been an attorney since October of 2005.

Her choice as co-counsel seems curious at best, considering her lack of experience. But she is the one who contacted Harmon to be involved in the case which makes this bizarre case even more bizarre. Cohen, who works out of her home in Lafayette and has been a member of the Colorado Bar Association since October, said she initiated contact with Harmon to inquire about joining the case.

"I'm a younger attorney in town, and I had been following the case since it came back into the public light," said Cohen, who turns 30 next month. She is also pregnant and is due in January.

Cohen's entrance into the Ramsey case raised eyebrows on a number of veteran lawyers in the Boulder area. Denver defense lawyer and legal analyst Scott Robinson responded: "Rachel Cohen?"

Upon being briefed, Robinson said, "It's a volunteer virtual unknown deferring to volunteer virtual unknowns in a case where all three of them have injected themselves into a high-profile case. It's like a first-year intern doing a heart transplant."

And for whatever reason it seems to be an important factor that Cohen is a female.
"I like her passion," Harmon said of Cohen. "I like her intelligence. She's very experienced, even though she hasn't been a lawyer very long."

"She is a passionate little defender, and she's female, which is very important." Harmon wouldn't say why Cohen's gender is important. However, in cases involving alleged sexual assault by a male defendant, it is often seen as an advantage for the defendant to be seen in close company with a woman - think accused basketball star Kobe Bryant and local hotshot attorney Pamela Mackey - so as to make him seem less dangerous in the eyes of jurors. I don't see how that is possible given the absurdity of Karr and his actions in this case. But whatever..

Meanwhile the public defenders office seems to be doing a very credible job so far in Karr's defense. Office head and Deputy Public Defender
Seth Temlin is a man possessed in his defense of Karr. He filed a flurry of breifs on Friday in the case. Two of the motions were key to get possible previous evidence excluded from the case.

The first of the two key motions was to halt DNA testing until the defense is notified of its purpose. The defense also argued that any previous collection of Karr's DNA would be illegally gained. Boulder District Judge Roxanne Bailin has not ruled.

Meanwhile, the Denver police lab confirmed Friday it has been asked to analyze DNA from Karr to see whether there is a match from fluid found on the underwear of JonBenet.

Karr was given a mouth-swab DNA test while he was in Thailand, a law enforcement official who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the ongoing investigation has told The Associated Press. The results of that test were not known.

Temin said if a DNA sample has been obtained from Karr "it was not obtained pursuant to applicable law, the constitutions or by valid consent." He suggested Karr would not provide any further samples without a court order.

"Biological evidence reveals highly private and sensitive information about a person," Temin wrote. "Mr. Karr's right to privacy can only be protected by giving him the opportunity to be heard on this issue prior to collection of a sample."

The second motion was suppress any handwriting from the public in the fear that it might taint a possible jury pool. He seems like a sharp guy, whereas Team Cali seems to fighting for scraps of meat. And it also seems that feathers are being ruffled between the two competing attorneys.

Now this is where it gets good. There is nothing better than a good old cat fight between attorneys, even if one them is a male.

"We are Mr. Karr's attorneys at this point," Temin said. "If he hires somebody else of his choosing who is a qualified Colorado attorney, that's up to him."

"My team is the Colorado State Public Defender's Office," Seth Temin said outside the county jail. "There will be no other attorneys that are not part of the public defender's system on this case."

But the two California lawyers, Patience Van Zandt and Jamie Harmon, say they're Karr's counsel. Told shortly after landing in Denver late Friday that the public defender said that Harmon and Van Zandt were off the case, Harmon said, "They can do whatever they want."
Asked if she believed that her involvement is over, Harmon said, "I can't talk about any of that."
She then added: "I talked to my client at 11 a.m., and I'm on my way to see him now."

This is the way I see things. It appears that Mr. Temin, toiling away on a civil servant's wages seems to have his clients best interests at heart. Whether or not we think John Mark Karr killed JonBenet Ramsey, I think that we have seen and heard enough about him to form an opinion. My opinion is that he is a repugnant little pedophile slug. But hey, that's just me. However, regardless of what I or you might think about him, our Constitution guarantees him a defense and as I said it appears as though Temin is serving his client's best interests.

Whereas Team Cali seems to want to make a name for themselves and are using this case as their conduit to achieve that goal. Ms. Harmon is hellbent on making a name for herself even if it means stepping on poor Ms. Cohen and more reprehensibly John Mark Karr. Let's take a look at some of her comments.

With respect to Ms. Cohen:

"She's going to assist us in any way she can, and she's going to help me get admitted (to the Colorado Bar Association)," said Harmon.

Harmon said it is not her intent to "brush her aside" and not allow Cohen a meaningful role in the case. However, she also said, "I've been an attorney for a long time, and I'm pretty good at it. She (Cohen) is completely aware of my experience levels. I have no intention of pushing her side, and she can be involved to the extent that she wants to be."

"Just because I don't know the specifics of your legal system in Colorado - and believe me I've been learning a lot more about it in the last 24 hours - that doesn't mean I'm going to let you take over. That's not going to happen."

And, she said, "I'm going to be the captain of the ship, and I don't think there's any question about that with anybody."

Doesn't exactly sound like a team player to me, more like Captain Kidd. Or perhaps even Captain Kangaroo. Those statements seem to me to sound more like someone who has their own best interests at heart and damn anyone who gets in her way.

Honestly it sounds to me like she wants to be the next Johnnie Cochran.

The one thing that we do know is who the attorneys for the prosecutors office will be:
The Boulder District Attorney's Office announced that assistant district attorneys Peter Maguire and Bill Nagel and investigator Tom Bennett would head the prosecution effort, along with District Attorney Mary Lacy.

The other legal manueverings on Friday were:

• Judge Roxanne Bailin, citing overwhelming publicity, issued a gag order that prohibits lawyers on either side from making comments that would harm the chances of a fair trial.
The lawyers can make no comments on Karr's character, his likelihood of guilt or on whether he failed or passed any tests, including DNA tests.

• Temin and the defense team asked that an application for indigency status for Karr be sealed, saying it contains his handwriting. If that sample were compared with the ransom note before trial, it could prejudice a fair trial, Temin said.

• The public defender asked for copies of all notes, investigative reports and other documents compiled by the prosecution.

Cobwebs Are Winning

I am working on a new post. I am in the research phase right now and honestly there is so much information out there that I am just collecting it right now as I drink my coffee and try to shake off the cobwebs of last night. As soon as I can put all the information into a lucid format I'll have it up here. Thanks for your patience.

My head, it shacks!

Take a look at all the legal shit that went down today in this case. It's a mountain of motions and paperwork. Oh and by the way, John Mark Karr's first court appearance in a Boulder courtroom is scheduled for Monday at approximately 4:00 PM EST.

This is where John Mark Karr will be on Monday.

I Found It

I found the Colorado Judicial Branch website that has all the pertinent information about court appearances, etc. Also of note, he has been assigned a public defender until Ms. Harmon and Ms. Van Zandt apply to the state of Colorado to be able to defend him for this case. Here is the link to the Colorado Judicial Branch website.

The Waiting Is The Hardest Part

Not too much to report right now. No one is sure when he will appear in front of a judge to face the charges of murder, kidnapping and sexual assault of a minor. Could be today, tomorrow or Monday. I'm trying to track down the website where the court docket will be put up with his name on it that will show when he will be due in court. What I do have is his booking report and three press releases from the Boulder County Sheriff's Department about the case.

Statement one.

Statement two.

Statement three.

Plane Just Went Airborne

The plane just took off on its way to Boulder. Once again, his first court appearance is scheduled for tomorrow and that is when the 72 hour clock starts ticking for Mary Lacy to be able to charge him.

He Just Boarded The Plane

I just watched him being unshackled by the LASD and being re-shackled by Colorado law enforcement. He was then escorted up the short ramp and into the plane without incident. The plane is taxiing right now. The right engine just started and now the left engine is coming to life. He is scheduled to arrive at the Boulder County Airport sometime around 7:00 PM EST tonight where he will be transported to the Boulder County Jail. His first appearance is scheduled for tomorrow. Remember no cameras tomorrow.

He's On The Move

According to MSNBC the plane that landed in Long Beach, California a little over an hour ago will be leaving at 4:00PM EST with John Mark Karr onboard headed for Boulder, Colorado. The story is being confirmed by KNBC-TV in Los Angeles. If you click on this link you can can scroll down to where it says LIVE VIDEO and click that link on and watch the plane at the airport in Long Beach.

This Just In

According to the Rocky Mountain News, a Colorado State plane (Beechcraft KingAir B200) left Boulder this morning heading for Long Beach, CA. The plane is expected to arrive at 1:00 PM MST in Long Beach. Colorado state authorities are mum on why the plane is heading to California but come on folks, connect the dots.

Specs on the Beechcraft KingAir B200

As soon as I have something more on this development, you'll see it here.

The plane just landed at 2:48 PM EST and the Colorado officials are now getting off the plane. There is much speculation (what else is new) as to why they sent a private plane as opposed to shipping him to Colorado on a commercial plane.

Cue Up The Twilight Zone Music - Karr The Wolf

According to an ex-roommate John Hall, Karr bragged about his sexuality saying "sexually, I am like a wolf". Whoa! This guy is not only hung up JonBenet but he is living in the past, re-living fantasies through 80's music.

John Mark Karr bragged to his landlord’s family that "sexually, I am like a wolf" and said he preferred girls to women when he worked in Costa Rica as an English teacher, his former housemates told The Associated Press.

MSNBC has the scoopage.

New Word?

OK, how many times have you heard the following words retched up by a talking head during this John Mark Karr case? Curiouser and curiouser. Well according to dictionary.com there is no such word. If this thing plays out as long as the O.J. debacle, I guarantee you that it will be added to our lexicon.

DId Mary Lacy Screw Up?

Why hasn't John Mark Karr been sent to Boulder yet? Lots of specualtion, but what I do know is that Boulder investigators have been interviewing Karr family members, both in Georgia and Alabama at a furious pace over the past two days.

That leaves me to the conclusion that the only reason his creepy ass isn't in a Boulder court room today is that Boulder District Attorney Mary Lacy is still building her case. If she brings him to Boulder now, she has only 72 hours to charge him. My thoughts are is that she doesn't have enough to charge him right at this particular moment. She doesn't want to somehow run into a double jeopardy situation, so she is trying to gather as much evidence as possible before bringing him there.

Which begs the next question. According to all reliable sources, not one law enforcement agency has done a DNA swab yet. Why is that? Are they afraid that it won't be a match and all of this was yet another exercise in futility on the part of law enforcement to try and find a killer in the JonBenet murder?

Tick tock Ms. Lacy.

Two San Jose Lawyers To Represent Karr

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

In yet another curious twist to this case it appears that Patience Van Zandt, who represented John Mark Karr in 2001 as a member of the Public Defender's Office and her boss, Jamie Harmon will represent John Mark Karr once he gets to Colorado, which isn't expected to happen until some time next week.

What makes this so strange is that
Harmon & Assocaites is a small three person law firm from San Jose, California. Not exactly the high powered type of law firm that one might expect in this colossal type of case. Speculation is running rampant in the legal community as to why these two women would take on such a case of magnamimous proportions.

"Any lawyer that would get that close to that circus would have to be out of his mind," said James McManis, of Manis Faulkner & Morgan, one of San Jose's most prominent law firms. "I think it peculiar some San Jose attorney would hold a press conference in Los Angeles on this brief stop-over Mr. Karr is making en route from Thailand to Boulder, Colorado. I think it's just bizarre."

And it seems as though one of the attorneys, Jamie Harmon has some baggage of her own. In a series of articles published earlier this year, the San Jose Mercury did a piece on Harmon questioning her legal advice.

Harmon, 49, had been cited by judges on three occasions for giving incorrect legal advice to clients, isolated instances that Harmon has said are not illustrative of a 23-year career that has involved hundreds of cases. Wednesday she portrayed herself the victim of a political agenda.

"That series of articles was to further the political agenda of the person who was running for district attorney who has enormous animosity towards me personally and who wanted to use that forum in order to give her animosity some exercise," Harmon said at a news conference Wednesday.

In one case in 2002 involved client
Ralph A. Cortez who was charged with sexual molestation. Although he maintained his innocence, he agreed to plead no contest based on Harmon's counsel. He later changed his mind and declared Harmon's advice was wrong.

As proof, he submitted a secret tape recording -- made weeks after his plea -- in which Harmon is heard telling Cortez he could petition to have his name expunged from the state's sex offender registry. In reality, Cortez would have had to apply after a 10-year period and hope for a governor's pardon.

After hearing the tape, Judge Edward Lee allowed Cortez to withdraw his plea, but not before saying, "There is something in this case that simply stinks."

Is Harmon and her little three person law firm up to the task? That remains to be seen.

Chatty Kathy

It seems that suspect John Mark Karr was quite the Chatty Kathy on his ride from the airport in L.A. to the Los Angeles County jail. Among other things he said:

"Everybody says I couldn't know my way around the house, but I got in the house around 5 o'clock ... and I stayed there all night," the source quoted Karr as saying.

He also said:

"they" -- meaning the Ramseys -- did not come home until about 10 p.m. He also repeated what he earlier told reporters -- that JonBenet's death was an accident, and that he was with her when she died.

Karr also told a Thai officer that he had "sex" with JonBenet, who was 6, before her December 26, 1996, death but "there was no penetration," a Thai official said Wednesday.

More Bullshit From Professor Tracy

OK, I admit it. I don't care for this guy. He is a self-serving, pontificating, bombastic asshole. I found this article today. The story came from the Broward-Palm Beach New Times. In the article it says and I quote "While the case against John Mark Karr disintegrates by the minute, New Times has learned that this isn't the first time Colorado University Professor Michael Tracey has caused a stir by fingering a "prime suspect" in the JonBenet Ramsey murder case — only to be proved wrong. I bolded the word wrong. For the full story on our good professor click here.

John Mark Karr Didn't Make The Grade As A Teacher

According to the assistant director of a large private school in Bangkok, John Mark Karr "appeared to be normal". Yeah, well appearances can be decieving. I guess they have a pretty low threshold of what a "normal" person is in Thailand. Here is the full report of John Mark Karr's checkered teaching past.

12 Year Karr Bride Speaks

Quientana Ray, who was 12 years old at the time of her marriage to John Mark Karr appeared on the ABC morning show Good Morning America today. During the interview she had lots to say. Including 'He Had Fantasies About Little Girls'. This guy is just sick and gets creepier and creepier the more that information about his sordid life comes out.

When The Bizarre Becomes Surreal

Karr's relatives offer book, movie rights to author/agent.

It was reported today that John Mark Karr's relatives have offered the book and movie rights to author and producer
Larry Garrison.

Wexler Karr, father of the John Mark Karr, who, until his arrest thought that his son was dead made the announcement today. What the family is saying is that they are not tryint to profit off of this but to be able to hire an attorney to defend John Mark Karr. I can't wait to see if the lawyers think that this falls under the famous
Son Of Sam laws.

The entire premise of the Son of Sam law is that a criminal can not profit from his illegal activity by writing a book, selling movie rights, etc. California's original law was stuck
down in 2002. It has been replaced with a similar provsion. Both Colorado and Gerogia (where Karr's family lives), do have Son of Sam laws. A total of 35 states have such laws.

Now getting back to the Karr family and selling the rights you can read all about it
here.

The Wendy Hutchins Tapes

Back in 2001, Wendy Hutchins contacted the FBI about John Mark Karr. It's unclear what their relationship was but apparently they were burning a lot of minutes on the phone. The Sonoma County Sheriff's Department provided her with a recording device and she went on to record more than 20 hours of phone conversatios with the accused murderer. This is more of the creepy walk on the wild side stuff. San Francisco television station KRON had an exclusive interview with her. For the interview click here and scroll down to where it says "Phone Tapes Add Mystery To Investigation" to view the 1:51 video.

Former Classmate Has The Yearbook

The former classmate of John Mark Karr, Teresa Alligood, class of '83 Hamilton, Alabama H.S. has the yearbook in question where the supposedly "SBTC" reference is etched for posterity. She appeared on the Nancy Grace show last night on CNN as well as having made appearances on the Today Show and several other television shows. Her story appears here.

His Yearbook Scribing, Does It Match?

This is going to be one of those things where both sides are expceted to parade a phalanx of "experts" to determine if what he wrote in a 1983 matches the ransom note. So far there are mixed results with respect to what the experts have to say and futher leads me to believe that there will be a revolving door of these forensic handwriting experts, if and when this case comes to trial.

However, it's not that quite simple. They will not just be focusing on this yearbook handwriting analysis. The big deal about the yearbook is his reference to SBTC. In his
yearbook he says Maybe I Shall Be The Conquerer. Which if you turn it into an acronym is SBTC, the "name" of the group that supposedly was going to kidnap JonBenet.

Here is the
ransom note. What do you think? Are they similar?

One so called expert, Curt Baggett, co-founder of the School of Forensic Document Examination says that he is 99.9% sure that John Mark Harmon wrote the kidnapping note. While others are not so sure. Which leads me back to paragraph one. If and when this case gets in front of a jury, the only opinions that will count are the 12 men and women who may be tasked to weigh the evidence and come to a conclusion on whether or not he killed JonBenet.

If you were on the jury, what do you make of these two handwriting samples?

Video From His Hearing

I found the video of his hearing from this morning in an L.A. courthouse. The video is provided courtesy of cbs-4 Denver. When you first click on the video you will see a picture of John Mark Ramsey on your right. Please click on play. Unfortunately you have to sit through a short advertisement from an overweight white haired dude, but directly after that is the entire hearing for you to watch and listen.

Talking Head Feeding Frenzy

Now it's the media's turn. After waiving his rights to be held in California today, John Mark Karr will now await a ticket to ride to Colorado. The media is in such a feeding frenzy it looks like a shark attack.

This is why sometimes the media just totally turns me off. They take one piece of information, really with nothing to new to offer and they regurgitate and regurgitate and they don't even give you an air sick bag.

Chances are that John Mark Karr will be in custody in Colorado by tomorrow, so let's what the circus looks like when it rolls into Boulder.

As Expected

The rendition hearing regardig John Mark Karr was just concluded in a Los Angeles courtroom. As expected he waived his right for a Governor's Warrant and he will be headed back to Colorado as soon as the State of Colorado comes and gets him.

He said very few words. Just a few yes your honors and that was that. The whole thing lasted less than two minutes.

He was placed behind a bulletproof security glass, much like what you see in foreign courtrooms, lest there be snipers arounds.

He did in fact have a public defender representing him in the courtroom, although the outcome of this hearing was already a foregone conclusion.

The only other thing of note was the request by the public defender that John Mark Karr be transported in civilian clothes to Colorado. Apparently she is thinking that transporting him in his jail house orange smock is going to taint a jury in Colorado. The judge denied the request, as he had earlier at a sidebar with the public defender and the prosecuter. I'm thinking that his wardrobe should be the least of his troubles, especially with respect as to whether or not this weirdo is going to taint a jury. Anyone who hasn't seem him or heard about him, especially if you live in the Boulder area, well if I was an attorney working on the case, I wouldn't want you on my jury for fear that you are brain dead.

The only other little snippet, legal-wise that was discussed was that the judge ordered another court hearing for September 5, 2006. This hearing is to make sure that the State of Colorado had actually picked him up. That is probably the only certainty in this case at this point.

The National Enquirer Video

Hey guys. Someone just left a comment on my blog that said that my link to the John Mark Karr video on The National Enquirer website wasn't working. I just tried it and it does bring you directly to the video. I suspect that it was an internal server issue with the The Enquirer based upon the error message. If you tried it and got the error message, try it again, it works. Promise.

Sick, Sick, Sick

But I had to put it up here.

John Mark Karr on Myspace.com. This is obviously a spoof and if not for the gravity, it's at least clever.

Giving A Shout Out!

I just wanted to give a shout out to all the peeps at Davis Vision in New York. A little bird wrote me today to tell me that you guys liked my blog. Just wanted to say thanks for reading and I'll try my best to keep everyone informed on the lastest to do with this strange bird.

Also, don't forget to check out one of my other blogs The Amazing Race Chronicles. Go on, you know you want to. You can't help yourselves. Go see it, I'll have you hooked in no time. :-)

The Little Bird

No Cameras in Boulder Courtroom, wahhhhhh!

Are you friggin' kidding me???? Puhleeze!!! Where the hell is Judge Lance Ito when you need his stupid ass?? The same Judge that sealed the file on the Jonbenet/John Mark Karr murder case on August 15th, Judge Roxanne Bailin said today that no cameras will be allowed in her court room when the chief suspect in the Jonbenet murder case John Mark Karr appears before her in the case.

The Honorable Judge Roxanne Bailin

Media Sues To Get File Unsealed

Several media organizations filed suit today to have the case against John Mark Karr unsealed citing "a great public interest" to know the truth. The case was sealed on August 15th by Boulder County District Judge Roxanne Bailin.

The brief was filed on behalf of The Associated Press, The Denver Post, The (Boulder) Daily Camera, the Rocky Mountain News and two Denver stations, KCNC-TV and KDVR-TV.

The full story is available
here.

Also of note: I heard this today (I am trying to chase down links, as soon as I have 'em, so will you.)

There are two "prominent" attorney's waiting for John Mark Karr in Boulder, Co. to represent him, once he arrives there. One is from San Francisco and one is from Los Angeles. That's all I know at this point.

MIB 3 - Back to Boulder

What was the one "news" source that Tommy Lee Jones' character Agent K absolutely had to have? Yep, the National Enquirer. Check out this creepy, creepy home video of creepy, creepy John Mark Karr at a friend's wedding in Marietta, Georgia, in 1987. Also shown in the video are two of John Mark Karr's children John Mark II and Damon. This one is off the disturbing chart.

You've Got Mail

This email address December251996@yahoo.com (December 25, 1996 is the date of JonBenet Ramsey's murder) is the one that John Mark Karr alledgedly used to send several emails to Professor "Media Whore" Tracy at the Univerdity of Colorado. This is just spooky to the nth degree. Allegdedly in one of the emails he asked Tracy to stand at JonBenet’s house on the anniversary of her death and say aloud a poem to "JonBenet, my love."

here.

Professor Tracy AKA Media Whore Liar

Earlier I had posted about an interview that Professor Michael Tracy (with whom John Mark Karr alledgedly corresponded via email with for four years)did with Wolf Blitzer on CNN on Friday. In that interview, Tracey said nothing (except that the Ramsey's didn't kill JonBenet) and got his feathers ruffled by Mr. Blitzer to the point where Tracy said that this would be his last interview.

WRONG! LIAR! MEDIA WHORE!

Professor Tracey, you are so full of shit, no wonder your eyes are brown. I saw you today on every newschannel getting a fair amount of face time while saying nothing, really. And then you come on Larry King Live on CNN tonight and you do the same song and dance.

Do us a favor and stick to your self imposed "last interview" edict and get the fuck off my TV. You have nothing to offer other than getting your self serving ugly puss on every talking head's show your agent can book.

Accident? No Way, Jose!

I just finished reading the entire JonBenet Ramsey autopsy report. I just want to warn you that if you decide to read this report, well it isn't for the faint of heart. In reading it, I am sure that you will draw the conclusion that there is no way on God's green Earth that this was any accident.

One of the passages of the autopsy report that made my head spin was something that I hadn't known, or remembered before reading this today. The fact that she has urinated on herself. It isn't clear in the autopsy report if this was post mortem or not. But when it dawned upon that poor child what was happening, that she was so scared that she wet herself, to the point where her bladder was empty, just makes me want to vomit.

Here is the
autopsy report from 1996.

Karr To Waive Rendition

The first thing that I wanted to do is clarify a misnomer. Extradition occurs between two countries. Rendition is what John Mark Karr is facing. The Wikipedia definition of the two terms can be found here.

I just heard an interview with the attorney that represented John Mark Karr on his child pornography charges in California in 2001. Patience Van Zandt. In her interview she stated that she spoke with Karr for over three hours this morning and that he does not want legal representation in California and that he wishes to get to Boulder, Colorado as soon as possible.

Ms. Van Zandt is currently employed by Harmon & Associates in San Jose, California. At the time she represented Karr in 2001 she was a member of the Office of The Public Defender in San Jose.

This would seem to indicate that at tomorrow's redition hearing that Karr is going to waive representation and agree to go to Colorado without any legal manuevering.

Tabloids at their best!

Ya gotta love the New York Post. What else can you say?

LASD Inmate Information and type in John Mark Karr.

Information Hangover

I had to take a break this weekend from all of this. Just way too much info and quite frankly so much of it is hearsay, etc., it's tough to discern what's a fact a what is just media speculation. What I'm going to comment on right now is John Mark Karr's plane flight from Thailand to Los Angeles. So much has been made of the five star treatment he received on the flight. Let's clear up a few things with respect to that.

In the first place, once he left Thai airspace he was no longer under arrest, therefore, no handcuffs. It wasn't until he arrived in LA that he was once again under arrest. So that fifteen plus hours on the plane, he was just another passenger. It wasn't as if King Prawns and pate were something that was an additional expense. Those meals, including alcohol, were included in his $2,400 plane ticket flying business class.

Next, let me move on to police tactics. Since he wasn't technically under arrest and obviously there was no attorney on the plane to tell him to shut his creepy yap, this would not be the first time that police used alcohol and first class treatment to try and ply information from a suspect. Get a few drinks in him, or anyone for that matter and they become a chatty Kathy. I'm sure this was a plan on the part of law enforcement from the get go. It is unclear whether any admissions or statements that he made during the flight would be admissable.

This story is just so wierd that it almost defies any type of logic. It's literally making my head spin. I'll try to get to some of the other weekend developments later on today. Stay tuned, I predict this will reach OJ tral proportions before it's over.

The Ransom Note

Please tell me that someone, anyone from either Colorado or Thai law enforcement did some type of handwriting analysis of the ranson note before they arrested John Mark Karr. Please! If not, this is the worst kind of police work and a rush to judgement would be an understatement.

Just another conundrum in this whole scenario is the ransom note itself, which sounds more like a fantasy being played out (which would fit the profile of a pedophile) as opposed to an actual ransom note. I found a very interesting
analysis of the ransom note done by Mark McClish, who has been in federal law enforcement for 18 years. From 1991 to 1999, he was the lead instructor on interviewing techniques at the United States Marshals Service Training Academy. During this time he developed a system to determine is a person is being truthful or deceptive. He currently gives presentations on Statement Analysis throughout the United States. His book I Know You Are Lying analyzes eight famous cases, including the JonBenet murder case.

His Resume - Spooky

Here is a copy of his resume obtained from the website jobforteacher.com where he had it posted.

Here is a link so you can actually read it for yourself. This guy may not have killed JonBenet but there are way too many references to children in his resume. A lot of red flags if you ask me.

He Said It Was An Accident - WARNING GRAPHIC PICTURES

The more I hear from John Mark Karr, the more holes his story seems to have. He has stated that on the day of her death, he picked her up from school. Hello, she died on Christmas night, 1996. Christmas = no school.

He says her death was an accident. I obtained two crime scene photos. How can a garrote tied around her neck be an accident? Not to mention the huge crack in her skull.

How can this be an accident? or this?

Karr once married to a 12 year old

The Rocky Mountain News is reporting that John Mark Karr was once married to a 12 year old. Holy moly!!

"John Mark Karr, the suspect in the JonBenet Ramsey slaying, once married a 12-year-old girl after getting her to lie about her age, the girl’s mother says."

The full story is available
here.

The Three Name Theory

Why do you suppose it is that assassins, murderers and notorious people in general always have three names? This guy has three names, I am now convinced, he did it. ;-(

Lee Harvey Oswald
John Wayne Gacy
Robert Charles Browne
John Allen Muhammed
John Wilkes Booth
Mark David Chapman

What's up with the Professor Tracey link to John Mark Karr?

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

A little backround. According to various sources including Karr's ex-wife, John Mark Karr was obsessed with the JonBenet murder case as well as the Polly Class murder case. He was also arrested and plead "not guilty" in 2001 in California to a charge of possession of child pornography. He subsequently skipped bail and left the country. He traveled in the Pacific Rim going from country to country ever since until his arrest yesterday.

Sometime last year Karr contacted University of Colorado (Boulder) Professor of Communications and Journalism, Michael Tracey, by email. Apparently he contacted Tracey because of the documentary Tracey produced entitled
"Who Killed the Pageant Queen? Suspects" which aired on the CBS show "48 Hours Mystery" on Dec. 18, 2004. Subsequent to that first email, Karr corresponded with the professor several more times. Tracey contacted and cooperated with Colorado law enforcement officials with this information.

I just got done watching an interview with Professor Tracey on CNN with Wolf Blitzer. The good professor seemed somewhat ill atease with the interview. Blitzer tried seven ways from Sunday to get him to comment on Karr's innocence or guilt in the JonBenet murder. With each attempt the professor became more surley with Blitzer. It was all rather bizzare. The only statement that Tracey would actually make was that the Ramsey's were innocent and that it was an intruder that killed JonBenet. He also said that this would be his last interview for some time. I guess the big bad Wolf can have that effect on people.

I did a little digging on the professor. Here is his
official bio from the University of Colorado at Boulder.

It also seems that the good professor is no stranger to controversy. There is a whole sub-forum devoted to Professor Tracey at
Forums for Justice questioning not only the information in his first and second documentary which aired in the UK, but about the professor's credibility as well.

Once again, the arrest of Karr seems to have uncovered more questions in this whole abhorrent story than answers.

Did John Mark Karr Do It?

Ever since his arrest yesterday in Bangkok, Thailand, the speculation has run rampant if John Mark Karr is the real killer of JonBennet Ramsey nearly ten years ago. Although he made statements at a press conference yesterday that would seem to make his guilt a foregone conclusion, some are not so sure.

He stated yesterday at his presss conference in Thailand the following:

“I am so very sorry for what happened to JonBenet,” Karr told The Associated Press after he appeared at a news conference earlier Thursday.

“I was with JonBenet when she died,” Karr told reporters afterward, visibly nervous and stuttering. “Her death was an accident.”

Asked if he was innocent of the crime, Karr said: “No.”

Certainly some damning statements. Yet, everyone involved in the case seems to be moving forward with a great deal of caution. He also stated yesterday to investigators that he drugged and sexually assaulted the child beauty queen before accidentally killing her, said a senior Thai police officer, who was briefed about the interview. Yet the autopsy showed no signs of drugs in her system when she died.

The prosecutor in the JonBenet Ramsey slaying urged the public not to “jump to conclusions” Thursday, hours after an expatriate school teacher in custody in Thailand claimed he accidentally killed the girl a decade ago.

Lacy suggested that the arrest may have been forced by other circumstances, including the need for public safety and fear the suspect might flee. She noted that he had started teaching in the Thai capital on Tuesday.

“There are circumstances that exist in any case that mandate an arrest before an investigation is complete,” Lacy said.
She refused to say whether authorities were worried Karr was lying about killing the little girl. Lacy said Karr has not been formally charged, and declined to speculate what counts he might face.

Additionally Karr’s ex-wife, Lara Karr, was quoted by KGO-TV in California that she was with her former husband in Alabama at the time of JonBenet’s killing and she does not believe he was involved in the homicide.

So is it him or not? Will this ten year mystery finally come to a conclusion? What if the DNA under JonBenet's finernails and panties doesn't match John Mark Karr? What then? Will the Ramsey family finally be able to come out from under this cloud of suspicion that they have lived under since December 26, 1996?

Even with the arrest of Karr, at this point there are more unanswered questions than anything else. This is an evolving story where the info is coming at us seemingly evertime we turn on the TV to see what else is new. We may start to get some answers in this decade long saga next week when he is expected to arrive in Colorado.
