Karr To Waive Rendition
The first thing that I wanted to do is clarify a misnomer. Extradition occurs between two countries. Rendition is what John Mark Karr is facing. The Wikipedia definition of the two terms can be found here.
I just heard an interview with the attorney that represented John Mark Karr on his child pornography charges in California in 2001. Patience Van Zandt. In her interview she stated that she spoke with Karr for over three hours this morning and that he does not want legal representation in California and that he wishes to get to Boulder, Colorado as soon as possible.
Ms. Van Zandt is currently employed by Harmon & Associates in San Jose, California. At the time she represented Karr in 2001 she was a member of the Office of The Public Defender in San Jose.
This would seem to indicate that at tomorrow's redition hearing that Karr is going to waive representation and agree to go to Colorado without any legal manuevering.
